The Honda Accord is one of the most reliable midsize sedans on the road. To make sure it delivers dependable long-term performance and stays in good shape, it's important to get maintenance. So, when are you supposed to get maintenance?

To show drivers in Ithaca, Elmira, and Corning when it's time for a trip to the service center, Maguire Honda of Ithaca looks over the Honda Accord maintenance schedule.

Honda Accord Maintenance Minder

Honda vehicles use the display in your instrument cluster to let you know when your car is due for maintenance. Each one follows a Maintenance Minder. This uses a simple code to let you know what's going on with your car.

For example, the letter A means its time for an oil change, while A1 is a reminder that you need an oil change and to get your tires rotated. The full Maintenance Minder can be found in your Owner's Manual.  The following maintenance schedule is both an estimate of how often you'll see these codes and a recommendation.

Every 7,500 Miles

It's a good idea to get an oil change and have your tires rotated every 7,500 miles. This is usually how frequently you'll get a reminder on your instrument cluster too. Getting new oil this often keeps your engine healthy, while regular tire rotations will help your tires last longer and provide you with better traction.

Every 15,000 Miles

At 15,000 miles your Honda Accord will have many of its most important parts and systems inspected. After service technicians give you an oil change and tire rotation, they'll check the brake system. That includes looking at how thick the brake pads are and inspecting the brake lines. Some of the other parts that they'll check during this appointment include the exhaust system, suspension, and fuel lines.

If your brake pads have worn too thin, a technician will replace them for you. They'll also refill any fluids that are low. On top of an oil change, you'll also get a new oil filter.

Every 30,000 Miles

Maintenance appointments that happen every 30,000 miles include all the same service and inspections as before. This time though, a technician will also look at and adjust your drive belts. Plus, they'll give you a new air cleaner element and replace your spark plugs.

Every Three Years

No matter how many miles you drive every year or how long it's been since your last trip to the service center, it's recommended that your Honda Accord get new brake fluid every three years.
